“Ransomware is one of the greatest threats to the world,” warned Yuji Hirokawa of SecureWorks Japan. He points out that the environment is changing, as cybersecurity becomes an important element of corporate management and even national security.
“We need to dramatically increase the speed of our cybersecurity responses,” explained Hirokawa. With this objective, in November 2022, SecureWorks, a leading Managed Security Service (MSS) company, rolled out an Extended Detection and Response (XDR) service in Japan.
XDR works by analyzing all kinds of log data to detect suspicious behavior and other abnormalities. The company’s Taegis XDR service “utilizes a wealth of threat intelligence and expert knowledge to rapidly uncover and eradicate cyberthreats,” according to Hirokawa.
XDR, which enables rapid response, is essential because ransomware continues to evolve and pose a growing threat. As Ryo Mishina of SecureWorks explained, “On average for ransomware attacks in 2022, it only took 4.5 days after a breach to encrypt data. Since breaches can lead to incidents in such a short time, comprehensive and swift action is vital.”
Accordingly, XDR is indispensable, not only for endpoint protection, but also to ensure integrated and complete analysis, detection, and response to a wide variety of data from networks to clouds and email.
Hirokawa added, “The importance of cybersecurity has extended to corporate management and national policy. Given the shortage of security professionals, we hope that our expertise can help to aggressively deal with threats at the management and operational level.”
